How to Download and Install Dynamsoft

Dynamsoft (also known as Dynamic Web TWAIN) is a driver that allows your physical scanner to communicate with the Scan123 scanning platform on your web browser. You must download and install Dynamsoft on your computer if you will be scanning into Scan123. This article will walk you through the steps to do so.

  1. Navigate to Scan123.
  2. In the toolbar on the left-hand side of the Scan123 page, click "Scan" from the available options.
  3. Once the "Scan" page loads, a prompt will appear with the following instructions: "Please download and install the Dynamic Web TWAIN service." Click the orange "Download" button below these instructions.
    1. If you do not see the prompt, you already have the latest compatible version of Dynamsoft installed.
  4. The installer for Dynamsoft will begin downloading. You may notice a window pop-up at the top right of your web browser indicating the status and destination of your download. The installer will be named "DynamsoftServiceSetup.msi".
  5. Once the download is complete, locate the installer in your Recent Download History within your browser or in the Downloads Folder on your computer. Once you have located the file, open it by clicking or double-clicking it.
  6. The installer will open in a separate window with the heading "Welcome to the Dynamsoft Service Setup Wizard. Complete the installation process by clicking "Next" in the bottom right-hand corner of the installer window each time you are prompted.
    1. During the installation process, Microsoft Windows will ask: "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" You must click "Yes" in order to proceed. If you are not an administrative user on the computer, you may be required to input an admin username and password. If you do not know the admin username or password, please contact your IT team for assistance.
  7. The installer will now install Dynamsoft on your computer. Once the installation is complete, the installer will notify you and you may click "Close" in the bottom right-hand corner of the installer window.
  8. Navigate back to Scan123 and refresh the page. You may do so by clicking the refresh button on your browser or pressing Ctrl + R simultaneously on your keyboard.
  9. Once your Scan123 page refreshes, you should see the Scan123 Scanning Client and you may begin scanning normally.
