How to Download and Install Dynamsoft

Dynamsoft (also known as Dynamic Web TWAIN) is a driver that allows your physical scanner to communicate with the Scan123 scanning platform on your web browser. You must download and install Dynamsoft on your computer if you will be scanning into Scan123. This article will walk you through the steps to do so.

  1. Open Scan123
    You'll begin the installation process from with your Scan123 account.
    1. Log in to Scan123 through your web browser.
    2. Make sure you are on the main dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Scan Page
    Scan123 will check whether the proper version of Dynamsoft is already installed.
    1. In the left-hand toolbar in Scan123, click Scan.
    2. Wait for the Scan page to load.
  3. Download the Dynamsoft Web TWAIN driver (REQUIRED)
    If Dynamsoft is not installed, Scan123 will prompt you to install it before you can begin scanning.
    1. Look for the message: "Please download and install the Dynamic Web TWAIN service."
    2. Click the orange Download button.
    3. If you do not see this prompt, Dynamsoft is already installed and no further action is required.
  4. Locate the Installer
    Your browser will download the Installer file to your computer.
    1. The file name will be DynamsoftServiceSetup.msi.
    2. Find the file in your browser's Recent Download History or in your computer's Downloads folder.
  5. Run the Installer
    Launch the setup wizard to install Dynamsoft.
    1. Double-click the DynamsoftServiceSetup.msi file.
    2. In the Setup window, click Next each time you are prompted.
  6. Approve Windows' Security Prompt (REQUIRED)
    Windows requires permission to install Dynamsoft.
    1. Windows will prompt you with the following question: "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" Click Yes.
    2. If your computer requires an admin username/password, enter it when prompted or contact your IT team.
  7. Complete the Installation
    The installer will finish setting up Dynamsoft.
    1. Wait for the installation to complete.
    2. Click "Close" after the Installer confirms it is complete.
  8. Refresh Scan123
    Refresh your browser to prompt Scan123 to detect Dynamsoft.
    1. Return to your Scan123 web browser window or tab.
    2. Press Ctrl + R simultaneously or click your browser's refresh button to trigger the refresh.
  9. Begin Scanning
    Once the page reloads, the Scan123 Scanning Client should appear.
    1. You will now see "Scanning Client" at the top of the page and your scanning tools will appear.
    2. You may begin scanning documents as normal.
